About the role

We now have a fantastic opportunity for a Finance Analyst to join us here at NFU Mutual. We also have the same opportunity on a FTC basis for 12 months, although there is a possibility that this could become more long term.

Reporting to the Senior Finance Business Partner and working within a team of 9, the main purpose of the role is to facilitate Finance Business Partnering and Planning across the Group by producing monthly Financial and Management reports in accordance with regulations.

Also, the role is to also operate & maintain a robust processing environment to protect financial data in line with internal and external governance requirements.

Some key accountabilities will include:

  • Collate, communicate and analyse Statutory accounts, Financial and Management reports in accordance with SLA’s and internal and external requirements designed to support effective decision making and meet regulatory requirements

  • Design, develop and implement solutions for the provision of financial and management reporting that meet customer and governance requirements

  • Monitor, validate and maintain data and systems input and output in accordance with processes, procedures and regulatory requirements. Ensuring consistency and integrity of reporting, compliance with internal policies, controls and service level agreements (SLA’s) and effective access and control of data

  • Analyse, provide interpretation and investigate financial and management data, trends and queries to support timely decision making

  • Anticipate, plan and forecast expenses, revenue and headcount information in collaboration with Finance Business Partners and the business to enable effective control and management of budgets and performance

  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders within the Department and Finance to ensure the effective delivery of objectives and representation of the Department

What we're looking for

As our Finance Analyst, you’ll be the type of person that has the “get up and go” attitude- not being afraid to go and speak to others within the business to gain information when required. You will be able provide insight and analysis to the wider business in simple terms, enabling them to make informed decisions in line with the Group’s long term strategic objectives.

You’ll also be or have:

  • Part qualified/ studying towards a recognised accountancy qualification (ACCA/CIMA/ACA) or equivalent experience

  • Strong IT skills to include spreadsheet and data manipulation skills, with particular reference to MS Excel and Business Objects.

  • Knowledge of Nav Dynamics / accounting systems, planning software and databases would be advantageous but not essential.

  • The ability to work to tight deadlines within a team environment and demonstrate resilience under pressure.

  • Ability to manage own workload and prioritise accordingly

  • Confident and credible in front of senior management

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work with people at all levels within both the Finance department and the wider business

  • Ability to explain complex financial information in written and verbal form to financial and non-financial people.

  • An inquisitive and structured approach to problem resolution, with the ability to look beyond the obvious

  • Good attention to detail and accuracy

Our team is located in Stratford-upon-Avon and it would be expected that on average, 50% of your working time would be located from one of this office, with the remaining days home based should you wish. Due to COVID-19, our employees continue to work from home and a return to the office is being planned for later in the year.
