About the role

We are looking to appoint a Head of Information Architecture to lead the Information Architecture function within NFUM.  The role will report into the Head of Solution and Information Architecture, working alongside our Enterprise, Solution, Security and Technology Architecture teams to define and govern architectural designs to meet Functional and Non-Functional requirements within the defined scope of each project.  The role will also manage the catalogue of our information assets, will drive to continually enhance Information Architecture (IA) related standards, deliver an effective BAU service and oversee the upkeep of documentation describing our as-is data ecosystem. 


As the Head of Information Architecture you will:

  • Lead governance decision making for the Information Architecture area, attend relevant governance forums and escalate issues where necessary. Work in co-operation with other key business areas in NFUM to ensure the corporate governance of information meets legislative or regulatory requirements for managing information.

  • Contribute to the development & maintenance of overall IT Architecture strategies, processes, and standards, providing ownership for the Information Architecture aspects of these.

  • Generate processes for ongoing management and maintenance of Group IT Architecture information catalogues including business glossary, dictionaries, models etc.

  • Govern the Enterprise data model and define/maintain standards.

  • Govern the NFU Mutual metadata model for Information Assets

  • Oversee Creation of Conceptual, Logical data models and assurance of Physical Data models, ensuring compliance to best practise and domain standard

  • Build and maintain relationships with IT/business stakeholders, architects, supporting functions to understand and influence future strategy

  • Coordinate, integrate and mentor activities.

  • Assure and approve information architecture patterns and standards.

  • Actively contribute to delivery of NFU Mutual Data Strategy intent.

  • Provide regular contribution to departmental key controls assessments.

  • Lead the development of comprehensive stakeholder management strategies and plans. Build long term strategic relationships with senior stakeholders and act as the point of contact for Information Architecture matters for senior stakeholders.

  • Plan and manage resource requirements for the Information Architecture aspects of IT projects and programmes. Work with relevant suppliers to establish an effective working environment and ensure that any suppliers involved in the Information Architecture space have clear and monitored performance objectives to provide commercial value.

  • Lead and deliver data centred innovation, including trials or proofs of concept for proposals to demonstrate value of a new data approach.

  • Management of IA related toolsets, including Collibra and IA aspects of the ongoing plans for Architecture and Data Modelling tools.

  • Act as Data Owner delegate for the IT Director by representing Group IT at corporate data governance forums

  • Line management for permanent staff and contractors.

  • Support Enterprise Architecture in the management and maintenance of roadmaps for underpinning data related capabilities e.g., reference data management, data and analytics.

About you

We are seeking an individual with:

  • Demonstrated consulting skills, with the ability to manage stakeholders at all levels of an organisation.

  • Experience in leading, managing, motivating people and successful delivery of annual performance objectives.

  • Hands on experience of DAMA DMBOK Data management frameworks or equivalent.

  • Demonstrable expertise in a relevant consulting or technology area, strong client-facing skills, and evidence of continued career progression.

  • The ability to speak confidently on information architecture subject matter with limited preparation commanding respect and authority.

  • A high degree of personal motivation and resilience to overcome setbacks with the ability to work in high pressure environments.

  • Experience of information classification and the creation of Corporate Taxonomies.

  • The ability to operate as a peer with enterprise and other technical and business architecture professionals.

  • The ability to coach, challenge and coerce rather than simply consult.

  • The ability to translate business requirements to logical data models.

  • Working knowledge of the IT Controls framework, COBIT and IT Service Management ITIL V3 (desirable)

  • Experience of ISO2000/ISO27001 an advantage (desirable)

Our teams is located in Stratford-upon-Avon and it would be expected that on average, 50% of your working time would be located from this office, with the remaining days home based should you wish. Due to COVID-19, our employees continue to work from home and a return to the office is being planned for later in the year.
