The role

We are looking for an experienced leader with a desire to make a difference to fill the role of Applications Delivery Manager in our established Corporate Applications leadership Team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing established teams who deliver Strategic and Business Change whilst providing critical application support services.  Stakeholder and team management is key to the success of this role, along with a drive to deliver service excellence.  You will manage on and offshore 3rd party team striving for highly efficient application delivery, whilst focusing on the end-to-end governance, risk management and effective controls.


The successful candidate will be forward thinking, highly performing with a proven track record of operating in a collaborative Leadership team, successfully delivering strategic change initiatives and people transformation.

Job specification


  • End to end management of the relevant IT services in conjunction with other internal and external IT suppliers and business stakeholders.

  • Responsibility for the development lifecycle to successful implementation of IT projects to time, budget and within resource parameters.

  • Inspire, empower, and develop the IT teams to fulfil their own potential, ensuring maximum contribution to successfully deliver IT and business objectives.

  • Represent your area at appropriate IT boards ensuring applicable governance framework and controls are adhered to.

  • Ensure 3rd party providers are delivering the commercial services agreed, providing comprehensive service reporting, and delivering added value to NFU Mutual.

  • Monitor and report on Application Licensing and Support agreements in area of responsibility in collaboration with internal and external IT and Business stakeholders.

  • Contribute to the IT Development strategy measures, processes, lifecycles, and procedures to ensure that the services provided are as effective and efficient, and aligned with business objectives.

  • Coach and mentor your teams, leading them through their development as we continue to implement new ways of working.

  • Deliver short term / one-off projects and activities as required by and to the standards and outcomes as agreed with the Line Manager.


 

Person specification


  • Extensive experience of successfully leading multi-disciplinary internal and external IT development and support teams, services, ideally in a financial services environment.

  • Significant experience of successfully establishing and transitioning new IT application services into existing teams.

  • Demonstrable experience of planning and delivering portfolios of system changes adhering to SSDLC methodologies whilst meeting critical deadlines.

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills with significant experience of stakeholder management at all levels.

  • Experience of offshore 3rd party supplier management and governance for software development and support.

  • A proven track record of talent management, including developing, and coaching others.

  • Experience of leading agile teams to deliver change and utilisation of Azure Dev Ops.

  • Excellent communication skills, commercial acumen, and ability to think at an operational and strategic level.

  • Demonstrates a strong aptitude for problem solving and the ability to bring innovative approaches to challenge existing processes and methods to achieve a successful outcome.

  • Operational knowledge and experience of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Service Management.

Qualifications/other


  • A minimum of 5 GCSE’s or equivalent, at grade C or above, to include Maths and English is required.

  • An Information Technology related degree, or other equivalent industry experience.

  • ITIL foundation.
