About the role

We have a great opportunity for a Workstream Lead (WSL) to join the existing centralised IT WSL function in the Corporate Applications team within the IT Division. The role will be focussed on managing all aspects of the IT delivery across strategic projects, managing dependencies and where applicable, any third-party IT suppliers.  Ensuring that the transition into the Corporate Application Service teams is understood, managed, documented, and fully transitioned and signed off.


The role will lead and plan IT work-stream activities and teams following standards and policies as required by a project and in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.  


 


As an IT Workstream Lead, you will:



  • Lead, plan, track, estimate and report on IT delivery into Projects & Programme / Work-stream activities in line with IT best practice, Delivery Governance and Secure Software Development Life Cycle (SSDLC) Framework to ensure that stakeholders, dependencies, cost, quality, and time are managed within agreed parameters.

  • Build and manage relationships with project and IT stakeholders, internal IT delivery teams and 3rd party service providers to ensure any agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are effective and delivered to.

  • Agree, measure, and implement IT Project milestones engaging with IT Service Owners, Release Managers and Project Manager to ensure the project deliverables meet the agreed IT Service Delivery Standards.

  • Lead, coordinate and motivate IT Project / Delivery teams, in conjunction with Project Manager and IT Service Owner.

  • Anticipate, monitor, manage and report on IT issues and risks in line with NFU Mutual Risk Policy and NFUM IT Delivery Processes, raising visibility, resolving, or mitigating risks to protect project deliverables.

  • Provide Project Reporting Dashboards for the IT Deliverables associated with the Project.

  • Deliver short term / one-off projects and activities as required by and to the standards and outcomes agreed with Line Manager.

What we're looking for


  • Experience of leading/driving IT delivery projects and teams and track record of successful IT project delivery in an IT Service environment.

  • Experience of establishing effective relationships with and influencing stakeholders.

  • Working knowledge and an understanding of the full Software Development Lifecycle, ideally with experience of leading Agile or other iterative based software development lifecycles.

  • A good understanding of IT Service and Service Ownership.

  • Knowledge of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Service Management.

  • Operational knowledge and experience of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Service Management.

  • Demonstrates a strong aptitude for problem solving and the ability to negotiate to a resolution.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Commercial acumen, and ability to think at an operational and strategic level would be advantageous.

  • Experience of managing risk and issues with effective mitigating plans.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate Technical talk into Non-Technical talk to the Business and vice-versa.

  • An understanding of the Project Management framework and methodologies will be advantageous.

  • Working knowledge of DevOps processes and practises within the Agile Framework (desirable).

  • Experience of working with IT 3rd party service providers, ideally within a multivendor environment (desirable).

  • Experience in a Financial Services environment (desirable).



  • 5 GCSEs or equivalent, at grade C or above, to include Maths and English Language.

  • Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Service Management Foundation (desirable).

  • Prince 2 Foundation (desirable).
