About the role

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Claims Handler to join our thriving Property Claims team which is part of our Large Corporate Insurance Department. The role is based in Stratford-upon-Avon and is offered on a permanent basis.

As an experienced Claims Handler, you will have the opportunity to get involved with the following:

  • Compile, process and record information relating to potential new claims, liaising with clients, brokers, loss adjusters, agents and third parties to ensure the facts of the claim are established in accordance with policies, procedures, regulatory requirements and SLAs

  • Investigate, assess and evaluate claims, within limits of authority applying criteria to prevent loss and fraud and appointing suppliers and experts as required, updating relevant parties and meeting customer service standards

  • Make and communicate decisions regarding policy cover, liability and quantum in line with policies, procedures, regulatory requirements and SLAs to ensure a fair outcome for clients.

  • Build and maintain relationships with underwriting, brokers, Agencies, other NFUM departments, business partners, service providers and third parties to ensure the effective delivery of objectives and first-class customer service

  • Check, audit, and provide feedback on claims files and processes, revising estimates as required, to ensure a proactive and consistent approach in line with policies, procedures and reserving philosophy

  • Coach, train and guide colleagues on more complex claims, technical and customer service areas to improve their knowledge and support effective decision making

  • Deliver technical support and assistance to agents, accompanying them on client visits to improve understanding, establish risk and enhance NFU Mutual’s reputation

  • Deputise for Team Leader and Senior Technician as required to ensure continuity of service.

About you

We are seeking an enthusiastic and hard-working professional with a can-do attitude. You will be a strong team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

You will have prior experience of handling property insurance claims (ideally commercial property) from initial instructions to completion as well as experience of managing effective relationships with clients, brokers, agents and other parties involved in the process. In addition, you will have a proven track record of managing more complex and technical claims as well as assisting and coaching more junior colleagues.

You will have a minimum of 5 GCSEs, including Maths and English or equivalent and an ACII qualification or working towards would be desirable but not essential for the role.

NFU Mutual are happy to offer its employees informal homeworking. Our team is located in Stratford-upon-Avon, 50% of your working time would be located from this office, with the remaining days home based should you wish. Please note that there will be an initial settling in and training period of circa 6 months which will involve a higher level of office presence to ensure we can provide you with all the tools you need to become successful in your role.
