About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new role in the Finance Division Risk team. As a Risk Coordinator your will be working with the Finance Division Risk Manager and Finance Division Risk Consultant. You will play a key role in helping the team understand, oversee and manage risks and compliance with our internal policies and external regulatory requirements.

We are passionate about coaching and development and we will support you towards professional qualifications in Risk and associated technical courses to advance your learning and professional development.


 The activities that will be carried out in this role include:


 



  • Monitor, review and produce management information on risk and compliance activities within the Finance Division to ensure operational risks are managed effectively and in line with NFUM Operational Risk Policy, regulatory requirements and risk appetites.

  • Proactively coordinate, administer and monitor Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) within the Finance Division, to ensure compliance with statutory obligations, and the onward reporting to Group, whilst providing OH&S guidance to all levels of management and staff.

  • Collate, communicate and analyse risk and compliance obligations, in conjunction with management, to ensure managers are aware of their accountabilities and expectations in relation to risk and compliance and to provide reporting on the effectiveness of the control environment.

  • Coordinate responses to near misses/breaches, to ensure that lessons learnt and root causes are established, ensuring that all events are recorded in the risk management system and an effective response to the control weaknesses are established.

  • Support the maintenance and testing of the Business Continuity Plan and Business Impact documentation, in collaboration with all relevant stakeholders, to ensure they are robust, understood and will deliver continuity of service in line with risk appetite.

  • Support the management of risk resulting from project/ programme change. Provide input into specific change programmes, projects or activities as required.

  • Deliver short-term/one-off projects and activities as required by and to the standards and outcomes agreed with Line Manager.

What we're looking for


  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Able to work productively with people at all levels.

  • Keen interest in risk management, alongside exposure to risk and compliance related duties in your previous role(s).

  • Excellent IT skills to include strong Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

  • Ability to work to deadlines and demonstrate resilience under pressure.

  • Confident managing and prioritising tasks.

  • Inquisitive and structured approach to problem resolution.

  • Risk management experience would be beneficial but is not essential as you will be fully supported in developing your knowledge if you have a logical, organised and personable approach to working.

  • Managing and influencing stakeholders is an integral part of this role, therefore the successful candidate will have strong interpersonal skills as well the ability to influence discussions.


Qualifications/Other



  • A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grades A – C, (or equivalent) including Maths and English.

  • We will provide support for technical qualifications/courses. We will also continue support for those studying for IRM/CII.
