Role-based working
Supporting customers and Agents across the United Kingdom
Role-based working
Role-based working means the way you work is shaped by the needs of your role. Instead of everyone working in the same place or in the same way, we look at what your job requires and design your working arrangements around that.
For some roles, this might mean you work mainly from home. For others, it could mean you spend time visiting customers or operating across a wider region. Wherever you work, we’ll make sure you have the right tools, technology and support you need to stay connected and feel part of the wider organisation, so you can do your job well.
Staying connected, wherever you are
You may not be based in a traditional office every day, but you’ll still feel connected to your team wherever you are. Wherever you work, you’ll have access to:
Virtual collaboration tools
Regular team meetings and support
Development and learning opportunities
Wellbeing resources
A strong NFU Mutual community
Homeworkers
As a homeworker, your day-to-day working environment will usually be your own home, based on the needs of your role. You’ll be supported to set up a workspace that works for you, while staying fully connected to NFU Mutual through virtual collaboration tools, regular team checkins and ongoing opportunities to connect with colleagues across the business.
Depending on your role, you may also meet your team in person from time to time or attend training sessions at one of our sites - giving you the right balance of independence, collaboration and support.
Field-based workers
Field-based roles offer you plenty of variety, the chance to build strong customer relationships and a high level of independence. If your role involves travelling to meet customers, colleagues or Agents in the NFU Mutual Agency Network, you’ll spend much of your time out and about. You’ll have the autonomy to plan your day around your visits, while staying connected through a supportive team and clear points of contact.
You’ll also have access to NFU Mutual office spaces whenever you need somewhere to work, connect with colleagues, recharge, or attend meetings and training - giving you the right balance of flexibility, collaboration and support.
Regional workers
If your role is aligned to a specific region, you’ll spend much of your time working across that local area - meeting customers, supporting teams and representing NFU Mutual within the communities we serve. This way of working is shaped by the needs of your role and the region.
You’ll have flexibility in where you work each day, and you can use NFU Mutual offices and the Agency Network agencies in your region whenever you need a place to work, meet colleagues or attend training. You’ll also be part of a team that understands the local landscape, helping you stay connected while working close to the communities you support.
Find your local office
You’ll have access to NFU Mutual offices across the UK, including Belfast, Glasgow, York, Bristol and our Head Office in Tiddington, just outside Stratford-upon-Avon.
Alongside our offices, we also have a UK-wide Agency Network of over 280 local agencies, connecting us with both farming and nonfarming communities from John O’Groats to Land’s End, and Belfast to Colchester. If your role is linked to our Agency Network, you may spend time in local agencies as part of your work.
If you’d like to visit an NFU Mutual office or one of our local agencies, please contact them in advance to arrange your visit and make sure the timing works for everyone.
