“This experience has been invaluable. NFU Mutual’s reputation and variety of roles within the company also make it a great place to explore future career paths.”

Job title: Financial Services Lead Generator
Apprenticeship programme: Financial Services Administrator
Qualification you studied: CII General Insurance and Underwriting
School you attended: Alderbrook School, Solihull Sixth Form

What first attracted you to NFU Mutual?
I chose not to pursue A-Levels or go to university because I was eager to gain practical experience as early as possible. The Financial Services Administrator apprenticeship offered by NFU Mutual was an ideal opportunity to allow me to develop knowledge in both financial services and insurance simultaneously.

How are you supported in your role?
I’m well supported in my role by my fellow Financial Services Lead Generator colleagues, who understand the demands of my apprenticeship, and my team leaders who also provide flexibility and encouragement, helping me to balance both my responsibilities at work and the requirements of the apprenticeship effectively.

What do you like best about your job?
One of the things I enjoy most about being a Financial Services Lead Generator is the variety of tasks involved in the role. Each day brings something different, which keeps the work engaging.

What advice would you have for someone starting out?
My advice would be to not hesitate to ask for support from colleagues, and to be proactive in setting aside time to work on your apprenticeship alongside your role. Managing both effectively takes planning, but with the right support and mindset, its achievable.

What has been your proudest moment so far?
My proudest moment so far has been passing all three of my CII exams. They were challenging, but with determination and support, I was able to succeed.

What makes NFU Mutual such a great place to work?
NFU Mutual is a great place to work. I am surrounded by kind and supportive colleagues who are always willing to help. There’s access to a wealth of information and resources, which makes it easy to develop both knowledge and career skills. The company encourages growth through networking opportunities, online training and excellent benefits, including a health and wellbeing plan that provide cashback for dentist, opticians, physio and more. NFU Mutual also actively supports career progression, making it a strong foundation for long-term development.

What is next for you after the programme finishes?
After completing my apprenticeship, I’d like to remain in my current role for another year to build confidence and deepen my knowledge. This will help ensure I’m prepared to take the next step in my career. At the moment, I see myself continuing in a financial services role, but I’m interested in exploring opportunities within the insurance side of the business later.
