What first attracted you to NFU Mutual?
I chose NFU Mutual because the entire graduate application process gave me a genuine insight into the company’s culture and values. From the first interaction, I felt the warmth, professionalism, and authenticity of the people I spoke to - which made it clear that NFU Mutual is a place where people matter.
How does the graduate scheme work?
I’m on the Cyber graduate scheme, which involves three 9-month placements across different areas of cyber security.
What do you like best about your job?
I’m embedded in teams for a meaningful period of time, gaining hands-on experience and building a broad understanding of the cyber landscape within the business.
How are you supported in your role?
As part of the scheme, I’ve completed my ITIL4 Foundation certification, and I’m also currently undertaking a Master’s degree apprenticeship in cyber security.
What has been your proudest moment so far?
My biggest achievement so far has been owning a key process in my previous team. I was given full responsibility for managing all aspects of the processing, from start to finish. This included tracking performance, identifying inefficiencies, and regularly delivering back meaningful stats to stakeholders.
What advice would you have for someone starting out?
Be yourself! Show genuine interest in the company and the role, and don’t be afraid to talk about your passions- even if they’re outside of the scheme you’re applying to.
How did you find the onboarding experience?
The onboarding experience was incredibly smooth and welcoming. From day one, I felt supported by all members of staff across the business, not only those in Cyber. The induction sessions were well-organised and gave me a solid grounding in both the company culture and the technical aspects of my role.
What is your current role?
I currently work in Identity and Access Management, where I help ensure that the right people have the right access to the right systems.
