What first attracted you to NFU Mutual?
Being a mutual rather than a shareholder owned business always spoke to me and aligned with my own ethics. I appreciate how the organisation prioritises supporting its members rather than focusing solely on increasing profits. Additionally, the company’s approach to work–life balance and the way it values and treats its employees were key factors in my decision to choose this role over others.
How does the graduate scheme work?
I am on the IT Technical Operations graduate scheme, however, my scheme has been a little different to others as I have remained in the same team for the past 12 months. This has allowed me to get involved deeply with many projects and tasks relating to the role and helped build up my knowledge and expertise within the various systems used on a day-to-day basis at NFU Mutual.
What do you like best about your job?
I am currently working on a project to help improve our users Digital Experience across the company which is very exciting!
How are you supported in your role?
I have passed my ITIL 4 course and am now training towards my Experience Foundation & Practitioner – I was given the opportunity to do my Level 7 degree but decided between myself and manger that it did not align with my career trajectory, instead deciding that professional qualifications would be a better route for me.
What has been your proudest moment so far?
I am currently 3rd highest for incidents closed within my team of 12 with over 15 closures – one of those above me is just an alert!
What advice would you have for someone starting out?
Just be you! NFU Mutual is such a welcoming place where individuality & respectfulness is valued, so let who you are and what makes you unique shine through.
How did you find the onboarding experience?
My onboarding experience was really easy – I attended a week-long induction which introduced me to the business and other graduates in my cohort before I then met my team who I began to shadow and develop my knowledge.
What is your current role?
I am working in the IT Technical Operations Engineer team.
