There’s much more to working in Claims within Corporate Insurance than you might think. Team Leader Mike Clarke explains how NFU Mutual ensure you have everything you need for a rewarding career.
Great people and a great team
The atmosphere here is highly supportive. It’s welcoming, everyone is happy to help; we want people to feel happy and settled. It can be daunting starting in a new job or within a new team and we do our best to make it as easy and pleasant as possible. We’re relaxed and friendly and we take time to understand and value every team member.
There’s a great team dynamic and we’re a social bunch. We’ve a variety of structured and less formal events – previously we’ve held BBQs, been to a day at the races and had rounders tournaments, and we’ve a curry night coming up. It sounds cheesy but people make long-term friends here, it’s very inclusive.
A focus on development opportunities and career progression
In my experience, at NFU Mutual you get a career, not just a job. In a professional capacity, NFU Mutual is very supportive of formal exams and there are rewards for that as well as time off to study. There’s a great range of opportunities so there is a lot of skills training around organisation and time management, for example. Day-to-day there’s a great wealth of knowledge within the team so you’ll learn a lot as you build experience.
Varied, interesting work
There’s an interesting variety of work here. We also get to build a face-to-face relationship with our clients. Every day is different, you never quite know what you’re going to be dealing with and because of that variety, we need to be proactive and react to people with the right responses. The variety can also be quite challenging and I find that an enjoyable part of the role. Our growing department means lots of exciting challenges and opportunities for the right people.
