Apprenticeship opportunities

Our apprenticeship programmes are an investment in you and your career. Whether you're embarking on your first professional role or wanting to build upon experience already gained, you'll enjoy a rewarding balance of on-the-job learning, hands-on experience and independent study time, supported by managers and dedicated staff, through a government approved apprenticeship programme.

What's more, you'll be employed full-time, earning a competitive salary. Our apprenticeship programmes last between 15 and 24 months, depending on the route you follow.

Our key programmes

Claims Handlers compile, process and record the information needed to investigate, assess and evaluate claims. With real exposure to our clients our Claims Handler apprentices are perfectly poised to make and communicate decisions that help us to build lasting relationships.

Our Claims Handler apprentices follow the Insurance Practitioner Apprenticeship Standard (Level 3) or Insurance Professional Standard (Level 4). Over the course of 18-24 months, you'll learn the knowledge, skills and behaviours you need to excel through a mixture of on and off the job training.

IT Business Analyst

Business Analysts are respected for their ability to analyse problems, develop solutions and bridge the gap between technical and non-technical staff. Our Business Analysis apprentices are part of a team within the IT department that deliver process and IT systems change.

As a Business Analyst you will follow the Business Analysis Level 4 Apprenticeship Standard. The apprenticeship typically lasts around 18 months, during which time you'll develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours you need to excel through a mixture of on and off the job training.

Paralegal Support

Our Paralegal Support apprentices are part of our Large Loss Injury Team that handle the largest and most complex claims in our business. As a Paralegal Support Apprentice you will follow the Insurance Practitioner Apprenticeship Standard (Level 3) or Insurance Professional Standard (Level 4).

NFU Mutual Careers - Our People - Profile Blank Image.jpg

Dominique Maria Stout, Personal Injury Claims Paralegal

When I joined NFU Mutual in 2019, I was impressed that they didn’t look for grades or accolades, but focused on my personality and qualities and provided a career path for me. Everybody is supported by the company in one way or another and that shows in their attitude.

They’re more than willing to assist with issues or queries. It doesn’t matter what role you have, everybody’s focused on making our offices a great place to work and ensuring that we’re all able to do our best. The atmosphere’s so inclusive and focused on your personal growth that I know I’ll go far here if I have the right attitude.

Ginny Whiston, Commercial Underwriter

I began working for NFU Mutual after gaining a Bioveterinary Science degree in 2017. The company takes a real interest in employees’ job satisfaction and my managers have worked hard to understand the areas I’m interested in. I’ve been able to work more with the farming sector and put some of my degree knowledge into use.

Then, in 2019, they provided training and development support to enable me to work towards an underwriting apprenticeship. My colleagues have always been supportive and more than happy to discuss and share their knowledge and experience with me. This support and guidance, combined with the development opportunities I’ve had make it a great place to work for me.
