Our key teams

Financial Services Operations

With almost 130 people working here, we administer NFU Mutual’s pension, investment and protection products at all stages of the product lifecycle, from point of sale through to settlement of a claim or policy maturity. Our customer contact centre and administration teams deliver exceptional customer service, while our paraplanning and adviser services teams provide outstanding support to our team of financial advisers.

Financial Services Sales

NFU Mutual was established back in 1910. And ever since, we’ve been providing our customers with the financial products and services they need based on personal service and honest advice. Our Financial Advisers provide life insurance, pension, investment and wealth management products. Whether it’s a small investor or a high net worth individual, we take the time to get to know our customers and their circumstances, and how best we can them protect themselves, their loved ones and their business.

Governance and Risk

It’s our job to make sure that we’re responding appropriately to risks that might adversely affect NFU Mutual’s business objectives. We take care of Process Improvement, Risk and Complaints, Checking and Assurance. We’re constantly working to make Financial Planning even more efficient and effective at managing its business opportunities and risks. We provide the control mechanisms to ensure that strategies, directions and instructions from management and our regulators are carried out systematically and effectively.

It all starts with a comprehensive six-week induction programme run by experts from our business to ensure you understand our advice proposition, advice guidance and point of sale systems.

Once you’re up and running, we’ll work with you to create a development plan that’s tailored to your needs - and where you want your career to go. If you want to continue your professional studies, we’ll support you practically and financially.

Nicola Glass, Financial Adviser

I didn’t know a lot about NFU Mutual at first, but soon found out they had a reputation as a good employer. There’s a very friendly, collaborative and open culture here, which makes you feel well supported. I’ve had lots of development opportunities to build my sales skills and there’s scope for me to grow both in my current role and across the business.

Everyone’s so accessible, right up to the senior management team. When I bumped into Graham Harvey, our Head of Financial Services, at an event, he remembered I’d recently bought a new house. Things like that really make you feel more than just a number.

Lucy Shuker, Senior Paraplanner

I joined a new paraplanning team in 2014, when there was just five of us. Now we’re a team of 18, supporting the whole sales force. The company has a strong moral core and understands the need to be flexible to accommodate family life.

For example, when I found balancing work and family life difficult, I asked to trial home working. It really helped me to work effectively, whilst meeting the needs of my family. As a Senior Paraplanner I need to be in the office more, but they agreed I could still work from home a couple of days a week.

Jack Mason-Brown, Financial Adviser

I started working in the post room at NFU Mutual and then moved into the customer enquiries team. This developed my understanding of our products and processes. It also gave me the ambition to become a Financial Adviser. After that, I was a Product Information Consultant (PIC) and then became an Adviser.

The company supported my ambitions all the way, enabling me to take the Financial Adviser diploma. That’s what I enjoy about working here - they trust you to succeed, but give you support when you need it. Everyone’s on the same page, so there’s always someone to talk to if you need help.

Ruby Bhogal, Customer Services Representative

When I moved to the area in 2016, it became apparent that NFU Mutual was recognised as a good place to work. I hadn’t heard of them before, but their great values and ethos really stood out from the start. They treat everyone as individuals and do whatever it takes to help us achieve things.

Sally Gilder, Life Services Administrator

I was working part-time in a farm shop to fund my training to compete for the Great Britain archery team. But I wanted a full-time role, so I applied to NFU Mutual because they were a respected local employer. It was a complete change for me, because I had no sector experience, but I was welcomed with open arms.

Since I joined in April 2018 I’ve received constant support. The company’s supported me in taking CII exams - and the flexible working hours mean I can still train and compete in archery, even though I don’t train with the GB team any more.
