What made you want to work at NFU Mutual?
Our Sales and Service team is made up of people from all different backgrounds and industries. But it’s their desire to work for a company that values its people that unites them. Here’s what attracted our new recruits to NFU Mutual.
Alex: “My first impression was that it looked very professional, a very good work environment. That it was the sort of workplace I wanted to be in. So, I thought, I'll apply for this.’’
Judy: ‘’I was attracted towards the fact that people had started in sales and then moved into different roles. The progression within the company is what really attracted me.’’
How did you find the training and recruitment process?
Designed to give them all the skills and knowledge they need to thrive in their roles, our training and recruitment process welcomes and supports our new starters from day one. Here’s how some of our new hires found the process.
Judy: “The training was far more extensive than anything I thought it would be. Coming from a retail background, I was immediately put at ease on my first day because there was someone from hospitality, there was a care worker… I wasn’t the only one who’d never worked in insurance before.’’
Gemma: “It's really daunting starting a new job. But when you're coming in and everyone else is in the same position as you, I think it helps. So, it was really nice that you didn't feel completely alone… I didn’t feel like any of my questions were silly questions either because other people had plenty of questions too.’’
How’s the support been at NFU Mutual since you started working here?

Michael: “It's always good to have the team leaders floating around… you feel confident that you can go to them for any questions, even if it's a simple question… it doesn't feel like you're on your own at any point.’’
Judy: “I like that you're part of a team; that there’s always someone there for you… I honestly couldn't fault anyone. Everybody's been really welcoming and supportive.’’
How does the role compare to your expectations?

Alex: “I don't know what I expected really because I've not done a job like this before… But everyone here that we work with is just really pleasant… it’s just a really nice work environment with people that you can talk to.’’
Gemma: “I’m actually very surprised by the job. It’s the first job that I've had in a long time that I actually really enjoy. I think it's a brilliant company to work for. They've been really understanding about everything. That's been great.’’
What do you enjoy most about your role?

Alex: “If I make a lot of sales in one day, or if I help someone who's really in need, I feel very proud about that.”
Michael: “I got to the point where I realised, hang on, I do know what I'm doing. I know how to use the systems. I know how to deal with the things that the customers throw at you. I think it's once I got to that point, I definitely enjoyed the role.’’
