Marketing and Digital

Here in the Marketing and Digital team, we play a key role in driving the long-term direction of NFU Mutual’s business. How? By creating an effective strategy, developing planning processes and building insights into our markets and customers.

We’re proud of our brand’s rich heritage and its focus on doing right by our customers. So, we work together to understand what makes our customers tick. We create products that meet and exceed their expectations. We communicate with them across a range of media channels. Most of all, we always look to improve, so we can help them prepare for what tomorrow brings.


Our key teams

Brand and Shows

In Brand and Shows, we focus on developing an effective brand strategy and showcasing our brand to a key group of customers. Ultimately, we aim to give customers a great, consistent brand experience. Join us and you could be involved in developing and delivering our brand identity across above the line media, including TV. Alternatively, you could be bringing the brand to life at agricultural shows across the UK, creating a stand experience that raises awareness of the brand and our products.

Customer Data and Analytics

We focus on building a deeper understanding of our customers and their behaviours, whether that’s with respect to the products they buy, the revenue they generate, how they respond to communications or the way they feel about NFU Mutual. Our goal is to produce actionable customer insight that enables the business to make data driven decisions and form customer-focused strategies. We also offer a consultative service to support our colleagues to deliver targeted customer selections through Customer analytics, Customer profiling and campaign insight, optimising the data aspects for any given marketing campaign.

Customer Insights

Listening to our customers, understanding their needs and concerns, and acting on what we learn is key to our ability to develop the right products and customer service. That’s why this small team is crucial. Join us and you could be helping to run our online customer panel or developing a structured research programme to get insights into customer needs and inform business decisions.

Data Centre of Excellence

Data plays a critical part in our business, driving change, enabling growth and adding value to every customer experience. We’re a team of strategic thinkers who drive value, embed standards and improve quality to ensure a data literate business. We set the direction for the data strategy across the business and build the technology to support it. Our teams have a wide variety of skills and are proud to make a major contribution to the future of NFU Mutual.

Digital Marketing

Join our Digital Marketing team and you’ll play a major part in promoting our products online. From maintaining and developing the NFU Mutual website, to creating marketing campaigns across a range of digital channels, you’ll help to generate good quality leads. It’s high profile work, as our website generates a significant number of sales leads to both Mutual Direct and our Agency Network each month.

Direct Marketing

Join the Direct Marketing team and you will be involved in delivering exciting data driven, test and learn campaigns using direct mail and email to both our customer base and prospects. Our focus is to deliver targeted acquisition and cross sell activity in order to deliver a sustainable, profitable growth for both Mutual Direct and within the Agency Network.

Internal Communications

Join the Internal Communications team and you’ll help to create a variety of messages that inspire our people to drive our business forward. It’s about sharing successes, connecting people at all levels, building trust and creating excitement about the future. To stay up-to-date, we work closely with teams across the business. And we’re always looking for new ways of getting our stories to everyone at our offices and agencies. Ultimately, we play a big part in making NFU Mutual a great place to work.

Marketing Campaigns, Local Area Marketing and Print Management

This wide-ranging team creates and drives marketing campaigns that raise awareness of our products and generate sales leads. This means we plan, develop and deliver a range of integrated marketing campaigns. We act as trusted advisors to agencies to make sure their marketing is on brand and meets regulatory standards. And we produce and print high quality marketing materials and policy documents. In short, we’re at the heart of almost all NFU Mutual marketing activities.


Protecting and promoting NFU Mutual’s reputation is vital to our long-term success. Join this team and you’ll help to influence the perception of our business through a range of communications. This covers a variety of areas, such as crisis management, PR, corporate social responsibility, social media, the Farm Safety Foundation and AGM communications. By creating engaging and thought-provoking messages, we aim to connect people to our business, build trust in what we do and manage our reputation effectively.

Social Media

In this small team we play a key role in raising awareness of NFU Mutual’s unique, local and personal service. Join us and you could be helping to promote marketing campaigns or support local agencies with their social media presence. And all the time, you’ll be helping to manage our business reputation as a responsible business and a great place to work by driving conversations with our customers and dealing smoothly with any questions or complaints.

Strategy and Planning

In our small team of market analysts and strategy consultants, we aim to influence long-term business strategy by understanding what’s happening in the wider market. Reporting to the board and executive team, we help to create and monitor corporate strategy, monitor market and competitor developments and analyse strategy in specific business areas. All our work enables the business to understand potential risks and opportunities.

What you could be working on

Our Marketing and Digital teams cover a huge range of activities across our business, so you could be working on any number of projects, such as:


Creating fully integrated multi-channel marketing campaigns, or developing TV advert creative and media.


Promoting NFU Mutual positively through external channels or highlighting our excellent work internally.


Developing our corporate social responsibility offering, or promoting our brand live at agricultural shows.

Sue Perry, Brand and Shows Manager

The NFU Mutual brand has been well known to me for many years, having grown up in a rural community, many family and friends have relied upon our services to insure their cars, homes and agricultural businesses. Now, as Brand and Shows Manager, I'm influencing how that brand looks, speaks and communicates with our prospects and customers.

As well as working with key creative and media agencies to drive acquisition and support new business targets, I also get to meet our biggest advocates - our customers - at agricultural shows. The company’s supported me in many ways over the past four years - I’ve taken on new challenges and increased responsibility, working on different projects across the business, developing my skill set and meeting lots of interesting people along the way.

I’d heard that NFU Mutual was a great place to work and a company that truly looks after its customers. So, when I had the opportunity to apply to join them in 2017, I jumped at the chance. Since I joined, I’ve had the chance to take on more responsibility.

Since I joined NFU Mutual in 2003, I’ve never been bored. I’ve worked in HR, Internal Comms, PR and Corporate Comms and now I lead the Internal Comms team. So I’m always learning and growing, and the business supports you in developing and driving your own career.

I’ve been involved in loads of interesting projects, from launching the first employee forum to introducing social media and upgrading our intranet platform. It’s great that I’ve been able to stay and do it all here.
