Analytics

Creating insights that inform our business direction

Analytics

Analysis is at the heart of our success, supporting teams across the NFU Mutual group and delivering insights that improve and shape the business. Join us and you could be working with people in any business area, giving them the key information they need. You might be supporting the development of future operational plans or helping to ensure we continue to deliver first-class customer service.

Our work requires a variety of skills and expertise, from database manipulation to analysing management information and producing data in a range of formats. By communicating clearly and building strong working relationships, we influence decisions up to the highest levels.

Our key teams

Business Analytics

Our Business Analysts provide a range of key services, including planning and quality management to ensure all business projects and programmes run smoothly. Using our broad knowledge of analysis tools, techniques and methodologies, we ensure analysis across each programme is planned, resourced, coordinated and documented effectively and consistently.

This means we need to be strong leaders, communicators and influencers, working with project teams across NFU Mutual to address their analysis needs.

Human Resources Management Information

The Analysts in our Human Resources Management Information team produce vital data, reports and analysis to help inform decisions on all aspects of people, performance and learning policy. We cover data on everything from absence, staff turnover and performance to vacancies, recruitment and completed training.

Using a range of different data sources, we’re also involved in analysing against benchmarks and targets, and producing statutory reports for external organisations, such as the Office for National Statistics.

IT Software Asset Analytics

Our team of IT Software Asset Analysts manage and monitor compliance for software asset management (SAM) in line with governance and standards. This involves advising on registering and controlling assets and influencing change forums by highlighting potential risks.

We work closely with third party SAM service providers to both manage the existing relationship and negotiate future opportunities. We also ensure that we buy and renew software licences on time and with the right metrics. In short, we make sure our software meet our business needs.

Project Management Office Analytics

Our Project Management Office Analysts sit in our Group Change division, helping to define and deliver business change to meet our strategic aims. We plan, estimate, schedule, budget and offer resource management expertise, bringing order and structure to delivering change.

The team might be involved in analysing the progress of individual projects or supporting project delivery by advising on following change and governance frameworks. In short, we ensure projects run smoothly and comply with relevant standards.

Workplace Analytics (Group Properties)

Our Workplace Analysts manage all our sites, from the Head Office to our Regional Service Centres and local Agency offices. We aim to meet business needs and maximise flexibility while conforming to legal and health and safety regulations.

This means we’re involved in all office relocations and refurbishments from initial planning, designing layouts and choosing and buying furniture, to coordinating services and physically managing each move on the ground. We also manage and provide vending and franking machines across the business and photocopiers for agencies.

Developing your career

We want you to reach your full potential and do the best work of your career at NFU Mutual. So we’ll train you. We’ll encourage you. We’ll develop you. And we’ll challenge you where you need to be challenged while supporting you every single step of the way.

We’ve invested in numerous personal and professional development programmes that enable you to develop your skills, expertise and career, while ensuring that, as a business, we continue to deliver sustainable profit growth, create a great place to work and a great company to do business with.

Meet some of the team

Simon Boxall-Southall, HR Management Information Analyst

When I joined NFU Mutual in 2017, I was attracted by its reputation and the benefits package. Since I joined, I’ve experienced this first-hand. I work flexible hours from 8am to 4pm, which comes in handy – and I have the option to work from home, too. I’ve also had plenty of opportunities for training and development.

I’ve attended several internal and external training courses and conferences. Plus I have regular 1-2-1s with my manager and access to online learning resources on a wide range of topics. The company also arranges Insights Assessments and Strengths Finder sessions, which really help to highlight your strengths and areas to work on.

Huw Treasure, Partnering MI Analyst

I joined NFU Mutual in August 2015 after being a teacher for four years. I was really impressed with the company’s values and commitments to social responsibility. At the beginning of 2019 I went from full-time to four days a week in order to share childcare with my wife. The company’s been brilliant in accommodating this, so I could find the right balance between work and family.

Warren Poyner, Propositions Analyst

It’s the work, home life balance and the support from management and colleagues that I appreciate most about working here. It’s refreshing to know that I can talk to my manager about work or personal concerns and help and advice is available where possible.

This was apparent in-regards to my family and more so my adopted son who has ADHD, severe learning delays, attachment disorder and an eating disorder. He requires regular medical appointments and NFUM has been really understanding and supportive by allowing me to continue taking my son to his appointments and to support him in making sure he gets what he needs at school.

Stephanie Knight, Risk Analyst

The work here is varied and very interesting, but it’s the people who really make the job great. My role involves speaking to people right across the business and, even if I’m really busy or I’m not in my usual office, I can usually count on someone to give a cheery smile.

There’s a sense that everyone’s working towards the same goal and willing to help each other along the way. That might involve providing some business information at short notice, or asking how you’re doing if they haven’t seen you for a while. It’s a really lovely atmosphere to work in.
