Why did you choose the NFU Mutual Graduate Scheme?
I was looking for a Graduate Scheme that utilises both analytical and problem-solving skills, then I bumped into the pricing graduate scheme in NFU Mutual. The numerical, logic-based nature of the job instantly attracted my interest. Subsequently, I conducted further research on the company and its pricing team. The idea of mutualism, coupled with its core values, a company with humanity that cares of its customers and employees has deeply resonated with me. What particularly struck a chord was the pricing department’s commitment to accurate pricing, prioritizing fairness for customers over optimizing premium charges. I was also attracted to their reputation on maintaining a great work and life balance.

What qualifications are you studying on the scheme?
I achieved my CII Level 3 Certificate last September, and I am now currently taking a Data Science qualification that is fully funded by the department. Other than Data Science qualification, Actuarial and CII qualifications are also supported in pricing.

How would you describe your onboarding experience?
I found the onboarding experience was great and it has made me feel a lot more settled than I was expecting. On the first day, we had fun ice breaking activities to get to know the other Professional Trainees, and during the induction week, we engaged in a team-building spy game. We were divided into different groups and collaborated to deliver a presentation at the end of the induction week, which has really enhanced our connections within the PT group. We also had the opportunity to have the talks from the CEO and directors across the business, who introduced us to the focused long term business strategies within NFU Mutual.

Has NFU Mutual done anything to support you in your job, your work/life balance or your life outside of work?
Within my team, there are many people I can reach out to for advice. Everyone here is incredibly supportive and willing to contribute to my development. Also, I have weekly catch-up meeting with my people manager, regular interactions with a buddy from the team, a d monthly catch-up session with a Capability consultant who responsible for talent development in pricing. I feel comfortable sharing my thoughts, concerns, and asking questions, both related to work and beyond. Over the past year, I have experienced significant personal and professional growth, thanks to the support I have received from NFU Mutual.
