Why did you choose the NFU Mutual Graduate Scheme?
I researched the company and thought the values of the business really appealed to me. I was attracted by the mutuals emphasis on putting the customer first and found their ethos - trust, respect and personal service resonated well with myself. I was also interested in having the opportunity to work at a large financial services company which was offering a flexible work life balance and support to pursuit an accounting qualification.

What qualifications are you studying on the scheme?
Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) Qualification and Chartered Institute of Insurance (CII).

How would you describe your onboarding experience?
My onboarding experience was a little strange as it was all completed remotely due to COVID-19, however, the significant effort from the L&OD team made my induction really enjoyable with various remote sessions where we got to meet other trainees and people in the business including Directors. It was a very insightful and helpful week which gave me the chance to settle into the company.

Has NFU Mutual done anything to support you in your job, your work/life balance or your life outside of work?
NFU Mutual has been extremely supportive throughout my time so far. I have regular catch ups with my people manager to discuss my progress and see how I’m doing. There has been a great amount of support especially with my professional qualification as I receive study leave to allow myself time to focus on my exams. I have found that NFUM has been really flexible and understanding with working hours and working from home.

What advice would you give to somebody else thinking about joining our graduate scheme?
My main advice would be to research the company and think about how you can demonstrate that your knowledge and skills can be an asset to the business. Be yourself during the application process and just go for it! The recruitment team are really helpful if you have any queries so make sure to utilise this if you have any issues.
