Why did you choose the NFU Mutual Graduate Scheme?
Knowing that you spend so much time at your job, it’s always been important for me to find a place that surrounds me with good people and a supportive environment to develop in, particularly when first starting out after graduation. Since starting here, it’s been clear that NFU Mutual really strives to be a place where people want to work, which is key for me. Being supported in pursuing my professional accounting qualifications also showed me that the NFU Mutual Graduate Scheme would be a great fit for me in developing long term.

What qualifications are you studying on the scheme?
I’m currently studying for my CIMA qualification, to become a qualified Accountant.

How would you describe your onboarding experience?
I feel positive about my onboarding experience. We had a week of induction activities with the rest of our cohort on the graduate scheme which I found really helpful for developing connections with people and making the transition from university to work much easier. Everyone in my team was supportive of me being the “new kid” and helped me to settle in really well.

Has NFU Mutual done anything to support you in your job, your work/life balance or your life outside of work?
The culture of NFU Mutual supports having a good work/life balance. Managers are supportive of you in managing your work load and also ensuring that you’re able to switch off outside of work hours. On the Graduate Scheme, I’ve also been able to complete additional development sessions and workshops to help me progress in my role. We have a sports club at Head Office, where I’ve enjoyed taking part in different activities. Working here has also given me some genuine friendships which have grown outside of work.

What advice would you give to somebody else thinking about joining our graduate scheme?
Go for it! There are lots of opportunities to grow and develop as a professional at NFU Mutual so it’s a great place to start your career after graduating. Make sure you research into the company to see if you think it’s the place for you!
